Diary Entry 1
July 1st 1789
I was irritated in 6 in the morning when I heard the noise of arguments next to my house. It was Henri Cartier, farmer arguing with a noble. It seems that he didn’t pay his tax in time. I felt guilty for somehow because I was paying my tax in proper time. The noble decided to take all the tools that Henri had! Henri was really depressed... I wanted to run to Henri to cheer him up, but there was a scary noble in front of him. I also realized that August 30th was his birthday! I decided to give him a surprise present. Luckily, I was working in a factory that produced farming tools! I decided to secretly take the products that the factory made and bring it to Henri. Since I am the worker who checks all the products if they are functioning correctly. It was really hard for me to take the products secretly. There were so many people looking at me. I decided to get a help from my factory co-workers. I pay them little amount of money and each take one tool secretly away from the factory. After working, I meet all the co-workers again and had a good deal. After coming back to my house, I brought all the tools in front of his house and surprised Henri with all the tools! I told all the feelings I got from the argument I heard. We decided to help each other from today! I provide the tools for him. Henri provides a little amount of food for me!!
For workers, monthly payment is our life. If someone else takes my payment, I get really desperate and have full of hatred to that person who takes it. Especially when the one who takes my payment away is my BOSS!! I would be very disappointed. I worked in the factory for almost 2 years, and I got only 6~7 monthly payment!! I am concerned if my boss knows how to do math. Today was suppose to be my HALF MONTH DELAYED payday, he didn't even prepared his money at all. On the next day, I decided to go on a demonstration by myself. Unfortunately, all the workers in the factory and my boss kicked me out from the factory. I was depressed and thinking how pathetic I was. When I was sitting down and cry, there was one man who asked me of what happened to me. His name was Francois Hollande and he was a popular lawyer in Paris. Luckily, he decided to help me sewing the boss of my factory for violation in the rights of man. When we sewed the boss in the factory, he was pretending like if he never knew me before. After the investigation happened in the boss’s room, there was nothing found about my profile. The boss erased all the evidences that was relevant to me!!! With all the despair, Mr. Hollande and I was captured in the jail because we disturbed the government for no reason. Although we didn't get any death sentence, I was worried of how long we are going to stay in the jail. I am also worried about my mother and my brother....
I was released from jail a year ago. I still remember the demonstration I did 6 years ago. I barely got another job and moved my house to Neuilly-sur-Seine, France with my family. Since I had some experiences of making farming tools, I found a similar job to this. After we went out of food at our house, I was looking for a bakery shop where I could buy bread. I was concerned and worried about buying it, because I don't have a lot of money. As I went in to a random bakery shop, the price of each bread was humongous! So I went to the worker named "Bernard Montague" and yelled, “what’s wrong with the price of the bread?” The worker was telling me that the bad weather and huge taxation are causing the price to be high I was still frustrated and complained about today’s economy. So I started to have a serious talk with Bernard about the economy in France. We mostly talked about the rise in product price, financial wastes from battles, and mindless act of Committee of Public Safety. It was awful that third estate has nothing to do with this all directly. Then we came all the way up to the topic of Napoleon Bonaparte.Bernard thought Napoleon was a good man because he pleased us with so many victories. I was actually having opposite opinion. I believed that Napoleon was just a greedy dictator and that all his nation's victories were from his greed Even though we had a slight argument on the Napoleon, we both agreed that if this revolution continues, it will get harder everyday for us to live in this country, because of the high tax, unbelievable price of breads and the never-ending battles. After finishing our conversation, Bernard handed me a bag of bread for free. I was so thankful that Bernard could be my new friend whom I could talk to about my personal complaints. I left the bakery shop with a smile.
